Viking Weave Jewelry & Custom Orders

Viking knitting, or Viking Weaving, is a wire weaving technique that was origionally used for making armor that pre-dates the advent of chain mail.  It is estimated that the Viking Weave technique dates back to as early as 850 AD.  Many jewelry artifacts made using the Viking Weave technique were found buried in the tombs of some of the most famous and powerful Vikings.

Viking Weave is made by weaving a single strand of metal wire over itself many times to create a chain... this technique is also known as trichinopoly.  Chain's made in this manner can be either lacy or dense, depending on the number of times the wire is woven into in each round.  It takes close to 45 feet of wire to make a 7mm-8mm 16 inch chain.
